Windows XP no longer available as of 2008
Microsoft have announced they plan to stick with their schedule for removing Windows XP from the shelf which they had originally annonced prior to the Windows Vista launched. So if you while rising with a killer hangover next New Years Day you suddenly think a new laptop wouold make you feel better…BEWARE! You will only be able to buy a laptop with the giant system resource hogging infestation that is Windows Vista.
At first, various horror stories you have heard will flood through your head. Unfortunately, they will be surpressed by that need you have for a brand spanking new killer companion in your time of need. You will order it foolishly believing that surely Microsoft will have fixed all the problems that have bugged upgraders since its release. After all, it IS Microsoft. Tut Tut!!
If your situation fits loosely within previously stated scenario, as several colleague’s of mine did then prepare. Prepare to install your programmes to realise Windows Vista is not backwards compatible with XP software. Prepare for 1 minute+ boot time. Prepare for the overwhelming urge to make your first sale on ebay.

I just upgraded to Vista home premium 3 weeks ago from XP home. I spent tonight repartitioning my hard drive and reinstalling Windows XP Home because Vista is horrible! If you get vista (only if you really feel the need to get vista) get a NEW PC with a CLEAN VISTA INSTALL or you will regret it even more than you already will when you buy vista in the first place. I am going to buy a few licenses of XP pro just in case I get a new PC in the near future. They won’t stop supporting it for some time, they will just stop selling it.
