Snakes on a plane, internet hype gone terribly wrong

I’m a great believer in the popular opinion so before I watch movies I make a habit of checking out their rating on imdb. With a rating of 7.3 that Snakes on a plane received being well above average and most of my friends who have seen it raving about how much it rocked, I was excited to say the least when I badgered my wife into watching this with me.
WOW! Thats wow in a bad way by the way. I have just finished watching what can only be described as the most overhyped B movie I have seen in a long time. Not since The Blair Witch Project have I witnessed such an overblown pile of ***. This movie stunk from start to finish. The script was abysmal, the acting as bad and the CGI was right up there with…eh…Bambi 2, revenge of the reindeers.
The phrase I have seen being thrown around a lot regarding Snakes on a plane is that it is “so bad it rocks”. I have seen movies that fit into that category, on occasion. This however, was not one of those such occasions. The character development was so hollow it felt like I wasn’t even watching a movie. It was more like I was having dinner, chatting away to someone, with a movie on in the background, glancing quickly at the tv when the screams dictate only to nonchalantly realise I don’t care who just died. It was laughable, but not in the way it should have been.
Thanks to Snakes on a plane, I am now banned from choosing the Saturday night entertainment in my family :p
