Silent Guardian: Active Denial System Heat-ray gun
The US Army has given the first public demonstration of its revolutionary new heat-ray weapon which can repel enemies and disperse holstile crowds. Silent Guardian, the first prototype developed from the technology known as the Active Denial System, fires an invisible high energy beam which to human skin feels like a burning 50c when in actual fact it is totally harmless.
They expect to add the new tool to their arsenal as early as 2010. With a range of up to 500m and apparently no real harm to the target it will be much more effective than rubber bullets.

How long before this is used on children? Or as a means of torture?
Seriously, they pump more into military spending than they do into their education or health system…
*sigh*

I never thought of it from that angle tbh Dan. If they can make it feel like 50c, I’m sure they can make it feel a lot hotter too.
And lets face it, the US don’t exactly play fair in war. They repeatedly denied they were still using cluster bombs in Iraq yet it was shown that they were.

The device was created to save lives not kill them. There are a lot much cheaper ways of torturing people. A 12V car battery is much more effective than spending 7 Mil for a device. Apparently Daniel would rather see people killed than pushed back. Yes, the device can cause blistering on the skin. Which would you rather have, a 9mm or blisters? The price tag is high because they are still in development. As the technology evolves the price will drop.

I think you should *probably* open your eyes and actually read what was posted.
