With the new signings in the summer I was optimistic that for the first time in a very long time, we could make a strong start to the season. But alas our achilles heel has stuck with us for another season and we remain slow starters. Last season we finished with 6 losses which amounted to us trailing Chelsea by a quite considerable 11 points. This season we have already amassed 4 losses. Are we capable of putting together another run of 10 consecutive victories like last season? We can only hope.

Liverpool play Arsenal this Sunday, August 11th in what has to be seen as their make or break from the obscurity the current season has imprisoned them in. Even the most optimistic supporter like myself will be truly tested IF we come away from the new Emirates Stadium with anything less than a win. Judging By our away form this season, having not scored yet from open play in the league, that will be a minor miracle in itself. But these times are sent to test us, and to test great teams. If Liverpool want to be a great team once again, these are the sort of matches we must win. Our season must start here, just as our magnificent run in the previous campaign started last November.
