Paris Hilton gets temporary injunction against parisexposed.com

Posted in Internet, Entertainment by Dardoz on the February 3rd, 2007

Last week I reported how a man called Bardia Persa had made quite the little business investment. Through a broker he had bought a treasure trove of personal belongings formerly own by hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton. I’m sure at the time, he thought that over a year or two he would easily make the €10 million he spent to aquire them.

Unfortunately for Mr. Bardia Persa, a federal court has now slapped a temporary injunction on his website, parisexposed.com. If only Persa had have been a little more selective about which of her items he put online for public viewing he may not be facing the loss of his €10 million investment. Lets face it, no judge was ever going to allow medical records and credit card details to remain online.

Channel 4 drops ‘wank week’

Posted in Entertainment, TV by Dardoz on the February 3rd, 2007

Young adolescent males everywhere will be disappointed to hear that Channel 4’s planned ‘Wank week’ has been removed from the channel’s schedule. Among one of the many programmes to face the chop is the “Masterurbate-a-thon” event which was being run in San Francisco to provide a safe environment for all of those out there who like to engage in the 5 knuckle shuffle in public. Yeh…can’t think of anyone I know who’s into that but hey, I’m sure they are out there. I mean come on Channel 4, all the proceeds were going to “help raise funds for the Center for Sex and Culture”. :p

Posted in Gaming, Entertainment, Piracy by Dardoz on the January 29th, 2007

Last Thursday, a French appeal court made a an epic ruling which could set a predecent the file-sharing that neither the file-sharing or Anti file-sharing lobbyists could have foreseen. The French Court of Appeal of Montpellier ruled in favour of a 22 year old man who had downloaded almost 500 movies online. He didn’t stop at this. He burned them onto CD’s and shared them with his friends.

The court’s decision was based on the French Law “article L-122-5″ which states:

“Authors can’t forbid copies or reproductions that are only intented for the private use of the copyist.”

More naked Paris Hilton on the net

Posted in Internet, Entertainment by Dardoz on the January 25th, 2007

If Paris Hilton is your thing, then lucky for you she has this habit of making sex videos and leaving them lying around for people to pick up and broadcast all over the net.

This time, Paris left some belongings behind at a Los Angeles based story facility. Upon leaving the facility, she apparently refused to pay the €208 bill which meant her “private belongings” were sold to an unidentified buyer. Now they are in the hands of Bardia Persa - the brains behind ParisExposed.com.

Peter O'Toole nominated for Best Male Oscar

Irish Actor Peter O’Toole has been nominated for his 8th oscar in the best male category for his leading role in Venus. Let’s hope this is lucky number 8 for Peter.

“To be considered is okay, but it’s not enough; it’s winning the bloody thing that matters,” is a quote that would lead you to believe he really feels it’s about time they gave him an oscar. Some people question whether he would actually turn up to accept it after so many rejections.

Peter O’Toole was previously oscar nominated for:
Lawrence of Arabia (1962),
Becket (1965),
The Lion In Winter (1969),
Goodbye, Mr Chips (1970),
The Ruling Class (1973),
The Stunt Man (1981) and
My Favourite Year (1983).

Forbes recently went to the trouble of naming the richest women in the Entertainment Industry so I thought I’d do a quick summary.

Oprah Winfrey
Rank: 1
Net Worth (in $ millions): 1,500
Age: 52
Oprah today is the richest woman in entertainment and the only black female billionaire. She pockets an estimated $225 million annually from TV, satellite radio, magazines and other multimedia endeavors. I do have to commend her for spending $40 million of her fortune recently for setting up a school for disadvantaged girls in South Africa.

J.K. Rowling
Rank: 2
Net Worth (in $ millions): 1,000
Age: 40
A little known fact about J.K. Rowling is that she wrote the first Harry Potter book in a cafe to escape the cold in her flat which she couldn’t afford to pay heating in. Rowling is the only career author on Forbes’ Billionaires list.

Martha Stewart
Rank: 3
Net Worth (in $ millions): 638
Age: 64
Stewart oversees a media empire that includes a television show, a magazine, books, housewares and a Sirius Satellite Radio channel.

Its that time of year again when Hollywood celebrates its worst movies of the year at the Razzies. This year sees a couple of stranger than usual nominations. The film itself has attracted 7 nominations: Worst Picture, Actress, Supporting Actor (David Thewlis), Director (Michael Caton-Jones), Sequel, Screenplay (Leora Barish and Henry Bean), and Screen Couple.

On top of this quirky nomination, Hilary and Haylie Duff have been jointly nominated for Worst Actress because they were so bad and to allow for more nominations.

I read somewhere yesterday that Paula Abdul, the American Pop Idol judge, made an appearance on a local Seattle New channel while appearing to be either drunk or high.

Her publicist has defended against the accusations by saying Abdul was just very tired. I don’t know about that now, she looks well out of it to me.

Sponsor’s dropping like flies around the Big Brother House

Posted in Entertainment by Dardoz on the January 19th, 2007

Carphone warehouse have pulled their sponsorship of Celebrity Big Brother as a result the racial abuse in the house last night. The move came after alleged racist remarks directed at Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty.

Carphone Warehouse chief executive Charles Dunstone said in a statement:

“Our concern has rapidly mounted about the broadcast behaviour of individuals within the Big Brother house. We are totally against all forms of racism and bullying and indeed this behaviour is entirely at odds with the brand values of The Carphone Warehouse. As a result, we feel that as long as this continues, we are unable to associate our brand with the programme. We had already made it clear to Channel 4 that were this to continue, we would have to consider our position. Nothing we saw last night gave us any comfort. Accordingly, we have instructed Channel 4 to remove our sponsorship name and branding with immediate effect.”

However it doesn’t stop there. Carephone warehouse are not the only sponsors pulling out. The Perfume shop, with 150 nationwide UK stores have removed Jade Goody perfume from their shops for her involvement. A spokeswoman of The Perfume Shop said:

For anyone out there that has seen Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. You will love Sacha Baron Cohen’s Golden Golden acceptance speech.
