The Feeling @ The Ambassador, Dublin

Ever since The Strawberry Alarm Clock morning show made The Feeling’s ‘Never be lonely’ their strawberry pick of the week I’ve been hooked. After hearing their album, with so many potential singles I was even more impressed. So when a friend of mine offered me free tickets to their gig in the Ambassador on Saturday I was only too delighted to take them and bring the other half along.

The support band, Captain, were starting just as we arrived. I was really impressed with these guys, a very modern cold play sound to them with an extra spoonful of rock. The female vocalist reminds me of Nina Persson from the Cardigans. She may not have the Swede’s looks but she does have that sexy voice which can fool you if you close your eyes.

Just last night in a small town in Connecticut 2 masked gunmen attempted to a rob a group of about 20 eager gamers queuing for days for the PS3 (Playstation 3). One man made the mistake of refusing to give them his money and was shot in the in the chest and shoulder.

Another small town, Palmdale, California suffered similar PS3 problems when authorities were forced to shut down a Wallmart store after the queuing people started getting physical with each other.

Microsoft Zune takes on the igizmo’s

Microsoft are soon to unveil Zune, their widely anticipated competitor to the ipod/iriver and to the rest of the portable music player industry. It has been receiving a lot of press of late, not all of good however.

Microsoft Zune

It has been confirmed that it forces MP3’s transferred to another Microsoft Zune to a maximum of only 3 plays, thus violating the Creative Commons license. It is possible that Microsoft could get around this with a firmware update at a later date, however at launch they do appear to be breaking the law to be blunt.

On top of that, although they continue to hype the Microsoft Zune up for its wireless filesharing capabilities, this particular benefit is also one of its more worrying flaws. As everyone knows, every successful platform becomes a major target for virus’s. The Microsoft Zune for a large number of potential buyers is a disaster waiting to happen.

For the paltry sum of around €250 you can head down to your nearest games or electronics store on December 8th and pick up what is in my opinion going to be the next big thing in console gaming: The Nintendo Wii!

For those of you who havn’t seen what seperates the Wii from the rest, just take a look at these videos.

Snakes on a plane, internet hype gone terribly wrong

I’m a great believer in the popular opinion so before I watch movies I make a habit of checking out their rating on imdb. With a rating of 7.3 that Snakes on a plane received being well above average and most of my friends who have seen it raving about how much it rocked, I was excited to say the least when I badgered my wife into watching this with me.

WOW! Thats wow in a bad way by the way. I have just finished watching what can only be described as the most overhyped B movie I have seen in a long time. Not since The Blair Witch Project have I witnessed such an overblown pile of ***. This movie stunk from start to finish. The script was abysmal, the acting as bad and the CGI was right up there with…eh…Bambi 2, revenge of the reindeers.

Liverpool at the crossroads

With the new signings in the summer I was optimistic that for the first time in a very long time, we could make a strong start to the season. But alas our achilles heel has stuck with us for another season and we remain slow starters. Last season we finished with 6 losses which amounted to us trailing Chelsea by a quite considerable 11 points. This season we have already amassed 4 losses. Are we capable of putting together another run of 10 consecutive victories like last season? We can only hope.
